Painting with vegetables

In shared reading sessions, we read one big book each week. Last week, we read the book “The Hissing Bush” which is a story about two children who went to a park and heard hissing sound around a bush there.

At the end of last week, we painted bushes with flowers. Usually, we use paintbrushes to paint but guess what? We tried to be creative and wanted to have fun painting the bushes, hence used “VEGETABLES” like Broccoli and Okra to paint the bushes with flowers.

We had a lot of fun doing it.

Ambury Farm trip

On 22nd June 2017, we went to Ambury farm along with rooms 1 and 4. Although the weather was not favourable, still we had a fun filled, informative and a safe trip. We were very excited to go in a bus. After reaching there, w e saw the cow getting milked, watched the shearing of sheep, fed some goats, chickens etc. A big thank you to the mums and dad who came along with us on the trip!! Diwali celebration

On 27 th October 2017, we had school-wide Diwali celebration at CPDS. From morning itself, we had various activities scheduled to learn more about Indian culture like Diya (lamp) decorations, colouring in Rangoli patterns, making henna designs on hands, a powerpoint presentation highlighting the significance of Diwali celebration, dancing on Bollywood music and last but not the least authentic and mouth – watering Indian snack in our classroom. After lunch, we had whole school assembly in the hall in which the wonderful performers showed their skills in anchoring, dancing, playing instruments, etc. A big thanks to all the amazing parent helpers who took out time from their busy schedule and helped us run the activities smoothly and also a big thanks to all those parents who provided us with delicious Indian food. The children just loved the food and enjoyed different activities throughout the day. Here are a few clicks of the great day spent in our classroom -

Te Reo Maori sessions

This term, we are fortunate to have Whaea Paddy in our classroom on every Thursday for the first five weeks.
